HB 201 - This act deals with technology-related assistance for contact with state agencies by the disabled.

Section 191.858.2, which contained a sunset clause of December 31, 2003 for sections 191.850 through 191.859,has been deleted.

The act requires the Missouri Assistance Technology Advisory Council to work with the Office of Information Technology to ensure compliance with the provisions of Section 508 of the federal Workforce Investment Act of 1998, which deals with information technology accessibility for the disabled. Unless an undue burden can be shown, every state department and agency must make information technology comparably accessible to persons with disabilities as it is to those without disabilities. Compliance standards and review procedures shall be developed by the Council and complaint procedures shall be implemented. The council and Office of Information Technology are also directed to work to ensure compatibility of all new technology purchased with existing technology where possible.
